The Semana Santa parade went in a circuit around the block, beginning and ending in front of the Envigado cathedral. The band was comprised of students, some looked to be as young as 8! They totally rocked however, and I was able to get a little snippet of the action on video.
The festivities for Semana Santa here are popular, loud, and some of the most enthusiastic ceremonies this side of the Atlantic. Colombia is a very Catholic country and Semana Santa, or Holy Week as it is known in English, is a highlight of the Religious year. It all of course leads up to the miracle of the ascension on Easter Sunday. I will be publishing a post soon with more details and pictures but for now the jams must suffice.
